Upon initial inspection, the basement was a standard unfinished area with expose concrete floors, cinder block walls, and a maze of waste water and water supply lines. We first worked with the client to design a layout that factored in everything they envisioned. The client’s goal was to transform the area into a functional space where an individual could reside in, detached from the rest of the house. This included a full bathroom, a small kitchenette with room for a fridge, and a dedicated laundry area. To create a more open and connected feel to the area, we designed the back room to flow into the kitchenette, perfect for creating a cozy living space.
We replaced the old concrete flooring with modern ceramic tiles that would give the area a stylish look while also being durable under heavy traffic. The client wanted a bright, airy space, so we installed recessed lighting throughout the area to keep everything well-lit. We framed and drywalled over the exposed cinder blocks to create a smooth finish and used a neutral beige color palette to make the space feel larger and modern.
One of the standout features was transforming an outdated fireplace into a sleek accent wall, where we installed a wall-mounted TV and console for a more contemporary look. The bathroom was another highlight, featuring a walk-in shower with floor-to-ceiling ceramic tiles, a glass door, and modern black fixtures that really popped against the white tile.
Despite working within a tight budget and schedule, we finished everything on time and on point. The homeowner was thrilled with the final result, not only gaining more space for themselves but also the potential to rent out the basement. We take pride in delivering high-quality work that meets our clients’ needs, and this project was no exception.
After previously helping this homeowner with a deck and fence replacement, they called us back to tackle their unfinished basement as they were highly impressed with the expertise and craftsmanship we showed with their deck install. The goal of the unfinished basement was simple; to utilize every sqft of space available and transform the unfinished area into a functional, modern living space that doubles the overall square footage of the house.
